EONE PMQ
The bold and revolutionary timepiece Bradley has made time touchable to everyone, including the visually impaired. Recognizing the design philosophy of the brand, UPSOP seeks to further Eone’s engagement in the community with their first retail shop. The idea was to create a multi-layered space with customized furniture pieces that act as agents in creating extra functions for the client, customers and community.
Same shop, countless configurations, different purposes
Eone Retail Shop is located at PMQ, a popular creative hub in Hong Kong that is from time-to-time filled with pop-up markets and festive events. UPSOP sees this as an opportunity for an adaptive spatial design that is larger than its interior footprint. Conventional static retail types no longer fit such context but an active one that will respond and celebrate the ever-changing site.
The Eone shop is designed to have flexible layouts for products display according to the sales need in different seasons or occasions. When desired, different functions and events can also be housed easily with countless configurations. Besides functioning as a retail shop, it can become a studio, a workshop, an exhibition gallery, or an event space anytime. It is also designed to expand its footprint to the exterior corridor and the open courtyard by spilling out its mobile objects. The definition of a shop is re-imagined in terms of time and space.
Objects as agents
The conversion of the shop is made possible with furniture scale objects on wheels which perform as product display, cashier, storage, and space divider. These objects are equipped with configurable parts that when deployed will appear and function differently.
With specific arrangements, different configurations can be achieved. Their sizes are small enough for lift transportation.
