An interior design and build project was completed by UPSOP for a digital fabrication lab in Hong Kong. The tectonics is inspired by the construction method for partitions popularly used in Dim Sum restaurants in Hong Kong back in the 80s. With a twist of the finishing materials, a contemporary reading of translucency between adjacent compartments is achieved.Traditional craftsmanship is emphasized in contrast to the digital CNC milling and 3D printing housed in the lab. Attention was paid to the treatment of columns.
